Preparing the next generation of public servants
By Dana Gheorghe and Manuela Epure
Adopting AI in Romania's public administration could generate around €660 million in added value over ten years — but realising that potential depends on the people who run public institutions.
While around 54% of public-sector staff already use AI tools, only about 23% of institutions have invested in the technology in a structured way. AI4Gov-X responds by equipping the public-sector workforce itself.
A new professional profile
At the centre of the project is a new role — a Functional Specialist who bridges technology, governance and service design, translating AI and data capabilities into real public value while keeping ethics, inclusion and accountability in view.
Flexible, recognised learning
Alongside the full Master, learners can follow self-standing modules and accumulate recognition through a "Skill Wallet" built on Open Badges and micro-credentials. The online curriculum is complemented by summer and winter schools across Europe.
